Better hospitality starts with people.
WHY HATS helps people and workplaces get to know each other. Explore the person, the venue and the role, then keep applications, conversations and interviews in one place.
Be seen for how you work.
Share what matters to you, the skills you bring and moments you’re proud of. Keep one WHY Profile and use it for each application.
- Free for candidates
- No CV required
- Your profile grows with you

There’s more to a great working relationship. Make room for it.
An advert, an email or a conversation at the bar can introduce an opportunity. HATS gives that introduction somewhere to grow, with useful context for the person applying and the team hiring.
A fuller introduction
People can share their preferences, skills and experiences. Venues can explain their team, ways of working and what a role involves.
A clearer conversation
Both sides get questions to explore before an interview. What someone shares becomes a starting point for getting to know them.
One place for the next step
Applications, messages and interview arrangements stay together, so candidates and hiring teams can see where the conversation has reached.
Every person has a story. Every workplace does too.
A WHY Profile brings a person’s own answers and experiences into view. A venue profile helps them explore the team they could join. These examples show how that context can start a conversation.
What I bring. What matters to me.
Skills, preferences and experiences, brought together in one profile.
From my answers
Looking after people
A suggested contribution theme to explore.
“Check whether they’d like some help.”
A moment I’m proud of
“I helped a new teammate find their feet by showing them our setup and being there for questions.”
Example content. Candidates choose the experiences they share and can keep their profile up to date.
Candidate #024
A hiring team explores the application with identity protected until the candidate accepts an interview.
A question for the hiring team to ask
“Tell me about helping someone feel welcome. What did you notice, and what did you do?”
A question for the candidate to ask
“Who would I turn to for help in my first few shifts, and how would we check how things are going?”
Example questions. Interview preparation draws on the person, the venue and the role, with space for both sides to add what matters to them.
One profile that grows with you
Keep your skills, preferences and proud moments together. Review what you share each time you apply.
Context for a human decision
Assessment answers suggest themes to explore. Your experiences and the conversation add the detail.
Preparation on both sides
Hiring teams can explore what an applicant brings. Candidates can ask about the workplace, support and day-to-day role.
From a first look to a useful conversation.
One connected journey, with the person applying and the team hiring both part of the conversation.

More to understand. More to talk about.
Hospitality is a human business. The hiring should match.
Built around hospitality
Bring pay, shift patterns, team support and the day-to-day role into view. HATS is built by people with hospitality experience.
The person, the venue and the role
Workplace preferences sit alongside practical requirements and the experiences a person shares. Each gives you something useful to explore.
Make room for a two-way choice
Candidates can explore what a workplace offers while employers learn about the person. Both can ask what they need to know before deciding.
Different perspectives can add something
Working preferences can be a starting point for discussing support, expectations and the contribution someone would like to make.
Your decision, with useful context
HATS helps organise what people and venues share. Interviews and hiring decisions stay with the people involved.
The things people ask before they sign up.

Does it cost candidates anything?
Building a WHY Profile, exploring workplaces and applying for roles are free for candidates. Employer plans pay for the platform.
Do I need a CV or a new profile for each role?
No CV or cover letter is required to apply through HATS. Build one profile with your skills, preferences and experiences, keep it up to date and review what you share with each application. You can add answers relevant to that role.
What does the WHY Assessment tell us?
It turns your own answers into suggested themes and questions to explore. It is a starting point for a conversation about preferences and experiences, rather than proof of ability. There is no public score or pass mark, and HATS does not make hiring decisions.
How much do I need to share?
Start with your account and work through the profile prompts. You can add moments you’re proud of and keep your profile up to date. When you apply, you can review what the venue will receive before you send it.
What happens after somebody applies?
The venue can review the application, exchange messages and arrange an interview. Both sides have interview preparation to help them ask useful questions. Candidates can follow their applications and next steps in their dashboard.
Can we use HATS alongside our existing recruitment channels?
Yes. Share the link to your HATS advert on your website, social channels or in an email, or give it to somebody who asks about work in person. They can explore the opportunity and apply through HATS, keeping the application and conversation together.
What does it cost to hire through WHY HATS?
The Free plan includes one live job, applications, messaging and interview scheduling. Pro adds unlimited live jobs, AI-supported advert drafting and access to candidates who have chosen to be discoverable. See the pricing page for the plans.
Who can see my profile and identity?
Venues can review the profile you share when you apply. If you choose discovery or Talent Rescue, Pro employers can also see your anonymised profile. Accepting a connection request shares your name with that venue in People worth meeting, without sharing your photo or email address. Separately, accepting an interview reveals your name, profile photo and email address on that application. You control discovery in your account. Information you write in profile text or messages may also identify you. Read our privacy policy for more information.
